Participation in Research Projects

Awarded by: CORDIS, European Union
Title: Offline development of software sensors, Part of the project: DARROW - Making wastewater treatment more sustainable and efficient using a data-driven AI solution
Awarded Institution: Ceit Research Center
Role: Research colaborator
Date: Incorporated in November 2023

My contribution in this European-founded project has been the development of software sensors in the water line of a waste water treatment plants (WWTPs), which serves for monitoring the ammonia concentrations in the aerobic tanks of the plant line and in the anoxic tank. In addition, the software sensor serves to track the maximum nitrification rate. Specifically, Extended Kalman filter is derived and shown the Kalman filter to a much broader class of non-Gaussian distributions. The filter has several desirable properties, such as its ability to preserve statistical relationships in the prior state and converge to highly accurate observations

My contribution in this area is the implementation of Spectral Clustering for anomaly detection in network traffic. This, because the exponential growth of network traffic has led to an increase in network anomalies such as: cyber attacks, network failures and hardware malfunctions. Detecting network anomalies is a critical task to maintain the security and stability of computer networks. Also, my expertise consists in detecting such anomalies, using support vector machine multi class, as a supervised algorithm to detect early, such anomalies in network traffic

Title: )
Awarded Institution: Ceit Research Center
Role: Research colaborator
Date: Incorporated in September 2024

My contribution in this project has been named: IRONMAN-BRAIN, which is a modular and intelligent autoscaling system that leverages reinforcement learning to enable proactive and adaptive scaling of Virtualized and Cloud-Native Network Functions. The IRONMAN-BRAIN a Deep Q-Neural Newtork to make autoscaling decisions within Service Function Chains (SFCs) deployed accross OpenStack and Kubernetes platform. Integration with Open Source Mano (OSM) facilitates lifecycle management, while SDN components such as OpenDaylight and Open vSwitch provide programmable control of the network infraestructure
