I was the Ph.D. supervisor of Dr. Ricardo Rodríguez Jorge from 2009 to 2012. He studied Control and Systems Engineering and investigated the use of artificial neural networks for signal processing. During his studies he was deeply involved in two topics: a) detection of cardiac arrhythmias by ECG signal analysis, and b) prediction of lung tumor motion. He proved to be very gifted and hard-working. Our contact has remained very active, and we have written a number of articles together, especially on cardiac arrhythmia detection using ECG signal analysis.

To my knowledge, Dr. Ricardo Rodríguez Jorge is a very capable, ever-evolving and reliable scientist who has proven his organizational and marketing skills several times.

I have known Dr. Ricardo Rodríguez Jorge since 2012, when I was a reviewer of the doctoral dissertation he defended on 1 November 2012. I was impressed by Dr. Ricardo’s eagerness to show his analytical and writing skills in his Ph.D. research. His study on lung tumor motion prediction by neural networks also demonstrated his remarkable writing, leadership and communication skills.

In my opinion, Dr. Ricardo Rodríguez Jorge has all the characteristics of a research professor: enthusiastic, hard-working, intelligent and well disciplined.
